Ritchie Williams is a photographer and artist. His work largely inspired by the Earth’s elements - having spent the most part of 30 years on the wind and wave beaten archipelago that is the Shetland Isles.

Life in Shetland is all about balance and making the most of the moment in which you find yourself. From season to season there is a great deal of disparity - be that in weather or light - even more so than in the rest of Northern Scotland.

Situated at 60° Latitude, we are at a similar level to parts of Scandinavia. During the “warmer” months we have almost 24 hours of daylight whereas in the depths of Winter sometimes as little as 4-6 hours. The sun then barely breaches the horizon. Finding light in the darkness can be challenging at times, but a life devoid of contrast would most certainly be bland.

In addition to his commercial work, he is also currently in the process of creating a photography book.
